UNIZIK Partners SiliconHub to Launch 24-Hour Mobile Clinic for Students and Staff

Nnamdi Azikiwe University has received a state-of-the-art Mobile Clinic from SiliconHub Limited as part of a strategic partnership aimed at modernising healthcare delivery within the university community through technology-driven solutions.

The Mobile Clinic, developed under the company’s Care365 Health Hub initiative, was formally presented to the university management in a move expected to significantly improve healthcare access for students and staff across the campus.

Receiving the facility on behalf of the university, the Vice-Chancellor, Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie, described the development as a major step toward strengthening healthcare infrastructure and emergency medical response within the institution.

The Mobile Clinic will operate on a 24-hour basis, providing rapid medical response services and extending healthcare delivery to student hostels and other strategic areas within the university environment.

According to university officials, the initiative aligns with the administration’s commitment to strategic partnerships and innovative interventions designed to improve the welfare and wellbeing of both staff and students.

SiliconHub Limited is led by its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Ngozi Joseph Odumuko, an alumnus of Nnamdi Azikiwe University and a technology entrepreneur with operations in Nigeria and the United States.

The company is chaired by former Nigerian Head of State, Abdulsalami Abubakar, who holds the national honour of Grand Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (GCFR).

The Smart Care Deployment solution integrated into the Mobile Clinic combines telemedicine services, digital health monitoring technologies, and mobile healthcare delivery systems aimed at improving access to quality medical care.

The facility is expected to provide on-site medical consultations, basic treatment services, health screenings, immunisation programmes, and emergency medical intervention. It also includes telemedicine capabilities that will allow patients to consult specialist doctors remotely whenever advanced medical attention becomes necessary.

University authorities said the Mobile Clinic would complement existing services at the UNIZIK Medical Centre by taking healthcare directly to students and staff rather than limiting access to conventional clinic locations.

The initiative is also expected to reduce pressure on existing healthcare facilities within the university while encouraging preventive healthcare practices, early diagnosis, and faster medical intervention.

Speaking on the development, the Director of Medical Services at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Dr. Jane Ezeonu, commended both the university management and SiliconHub Limited for introducing what she described as a transformative innovation in campus healthcare delivery.

She noted that the digital health monitoring component embedded in the initiative would support data-driven healthcare planning and improve the efficiency of medical services within the institution.

According to her, the project represents a scalable healthcare model that could serve as a benchmark for other tertiary institutions across Nigeria.

The partnership also highlights the growing role of alumni and private sector collaboration in driving institutional development and improving critical services within Nigerian universities.

With the deployment of the technology-enabled Mobile Clinic, Nnamdi Azikiwe University is positioning itself toward a more responsive, technology-driven, and accessible healthcare system for its campus community.
