Nasarawa State University has partnered with Apt Global NGO under the PMI Evolve Project of USAID Nigeria to distribute anti-malaria materials to students as part of efforts to curb the spread of malaria during the rainy season.

The intervention, coordinated through the university’s Centre for Malaria Research, involved the donation and distribution of essential anti-malaria items to students living on campus and in surrounding communities.

University officials said the initiative was designed to address the growing risk of malaria infections associated with increased mosquito breeding during the rainy season while also supporting students’ health and academic productivity.

Receiving the items on behalf of the university, the Dean of Student Affairs, Yahaya Mohammed, described malaria as both a health and economic challenge capable of affecting students’ wellbeing and academic performance.

He noted that the disease continues to reduce productivity and contribute to avoidable health complications, stressing that the donation came at a critical time.

Professor Mohammed officially handed over the items, including 24 packs of Raid mosquito insecticides, to the Students’ Representative Council for immediate distribution to students residing on campus as well as neighbouring secondary boarding schools.
