The Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Professor Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie, has highlighted the University's commitment to transforming research and innovation into practical solutions during the 3rd Huawei Education Summit 2026 held in Abuja.

The Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Professor Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie, has highlighted the University's commitment to transforming research and innovation into practical solutions during the 3rd Huawei Education Summit 2026 held in Abuja.

Speaking during a panel session titled "From Research to Market," Professor Anyaehie said UNIZIK has developed a taxi-booking application for students, leveraging the University's population of more than 60,000 students as a ready market for innovation.

He explained that his administration's priority is to develop solutions that directly address the needs of the University community before expanding their impact beyond the campus.

The Vice-Chancellor also disclosed that the University is developing a dedicated payment application for students as part of efforts to improve service delivery and strengthen its digital ecosystem.

He further revealed that plans are underway for UNIZIK to begin generating its own electricity, describing the initiative as part of the University's broader strategy to promote innovation, sustainability and institutional self-reliance.

Professor Anyaehie said the projects reflect UNIZIK's commitment to ensuring that research moves beyond academic findings to create practical solutions that deliver measurable value to the University community and society at large.
