TASFUED VC Honoured for Supporting Women in Artificial Intelligence Programme

The Vice-Chancellor of Tai Solarin Federal University of Education (TASFUED), Ijagun, Prof. Samuel Oladipo, MNPA, CMCPN, MCAN, FIELPN, has received an award of recognition from Sisi in Tech, an initiative of the Adeola Azeez Community Care Foundation (AACCF), for his support and encouragement of programmes promoting digital skills and opportunities for young women in technology.

The award was presented to Prof. Oladipo by Mrs. Azeez during a courtesy visit to the University. She commended TASFUED for supporting the Sisi in Tech initiative and encouraging female students to embrace emerging technologies and acquire skills relevant to the future of work.

The recognition followed the outstanding performance of TASFUED’s female students, who emerged as the overall best participants in the maiden edition of the Sisi in Tech: Women in AI Programme, further highlighting the impact of the University’s support for technology-driven learning opportunities.

Receiving the award, Prof. Oladipo expressed appreciation for the recognition and commended Sisi in Tech for creating opportunities for young women to acquire practical skills in Artificial Intelligence (AI), digital technology and other emerging areas of the future of work.

The Vice-Chancellor said the University’s support for initiatives such as Sisi in Tech was consistent with TASFUED’s commitment to broadening students’ learning experiences beyond conventional classroom instruction and exposing them to practical knowledge and emerging technologies.

Prof. Oladipo noted that the outstanding performance of the University’s students in the programme demonstrated the capacity and potential of TASFUED students to excel when provided with innovative learning opportunities and exposure to contemporary technologies.

He said the achievement further reinforced the University’s commitment to producing graduates who are not only academically sound but also equipped with relevant practical skills to contribute meaningfully to society and the digital economy.

The Vice-Chancellor encouraged students to continue taking advantage of programmes that broaden their knowledge, develop new competencies and prepare them for the changing demands of the workplace.

The maiden edition of the Sisi in Tech: Women in AI Programme was held in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, in July 2026, with female students from TASFUED, Olabisi Onabanjo University and Ogun State Polytechnic of Health and Allied Sciences participating.

The programme provided participants with practical training in:

• Artificial Intelligence foundations
• Prompt engineering
• Productivity tools
• Data analytics
• Career pathways

The programme also featured technical support from Data Science Nigeria, while participants received additional training in career development, entrepreneurship, financial literacy and personal development.

Speaking during the visit, Mrs. Azeez emphasised the importance of equipping young women with relevant digital competencies and creating opportunities for them to participate meaningfully in the technology-driven global economy.

She explained that Sisi in Tech was established to help bridge the digital-skills gap among young women and prepare them for emerging opportunities in the technology sector.

Mrs. Azeez commended the TASFUED students for their exceptional performance in the programme, noting that their success demonstrated the value of providing students with practical, technology-driven learning experiences beyond conventional classroom instruction.

She also appreciated the University Management and the Vice-Chancellor for creating an enabling environment for initiatives that expose students, particularly young women, to opportunities in science, technology and innovation.

The TASFUED team was led by Grace Precious Egbewale, who participated in the programme and emerged top in the tournament.

The award presented to Prof. Oladipo recognised his support for the initiative and TASFUED’s institutional encouragement of programmes that promote digital literacy, innovation and inclusive opportunities for students, particularly young women.

The visit further strengthened the relationship between TASFUED and Sisi in Tech and underscored the University’s commitment to strategic partnerships that complement its academic mission by exposing students to emerging technologies, entrepreneurship and opportunities in the evolving global economy.
