FUE Zaria Security Arrests Three Suspects Over Alleged Campus Vandalism

The Security Unit of the Federal University of Education, FUE, Zaria, has arrested three suspects in connection with alleged cases of vandalism and theft on the University campus.

The suspects were arrested following investigations into reported incidents involving the removal and vandalism of university properties and other valuables.

The University Chief Security Officer, CSO, ASP Bello Haruna, Rtd., who disclosed the development, said preliminary investigations indicated that the suspects were allegedly linked to repeated incursions into the campus.

According to the security authorities, the suspects reportedly admitted during questioning to involvement in several incidents in which electrical cables, laptops, handsets and other properties belonging to the University and members of the University community were allegedly taken away.

The suspects also reportedly provided information on how they allegedly gained access to parts of the campus during the incidents.

The University Security Unit further stated that investigations had led to the identification and custody of other persons allegedly connected to the suspected network, including individuals believed to have received some of the stolen items.

The suspects and other persons in custody remain under investigation as the security authorities work to establish the circumstances surrounding the reported incidents, recover allegedly stolen properties and determine whether other individuals were involved.

The University said the development represents a significant step in its ongoing efforts to strengthen campus security and prevent vandalism, theft and unauthorised access to University facilities.
