FUTIA Flags-Off TETFund Entrepreneurship Training Series with Bootcamp and Hackathon

The Federal University of Technology Ikot Abasi, FUTIA, has flagged-off activities for its maiden Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFund, Entrepreneurship Programme for students and staff of the institution.

The training series for the 2026 academic session commenced on Saturday, August 8, 2026, with the "2026 TETFund Bootcamp - From Ideas to Impact" held at the Women War Memorial Centre, Consulate Road, Ikot Abasi.

The bootcamp featured different training modules including: Pep Talk: "From Problems to Profitable Ideas", Idea Discovery and Customer Validation, Designing the Business Model, Building the Brand with Canva, Building the Ordering Platform with Lovable Mantra, Connecting the Digital Business System, Digital Marketing and Live Launch Preparation, and Product Demonstration.

Facilitators at the training included the Lead Resource Person and Managing Director of WeBuild Innovation Labs, Mr. Daniel Essien, as well as Mr. Sylvester Ebhonu and Mr. Emmanuel Samuel.

The bootcamp had 88 students in attendance. Participants were provided with training materials, souvenirs, and startup kits. Top performers in the hackathon received free business name registration, and six-month subscriptions to Canva, ChatGPT, and Lovable.

The entrepreneurship programme, scheduled to run from Saturday, August 8 to Saturday, August 15, 2026, is anchored by WeBuild Innovation Labs and sponsored by TETFund as part of the 2022 to 2025 Entrepreneurship Intervention for FUTIA. The programme is co-hosted by the FUTIA Directorate of Entrepreneurship led by Engr. Dr. Bassey Okon. The event was attended by FUTIA students led by the Students’ Representatives Council, SRC.

The 1st FUTIA Entrepreneurship Development Series is aimed at instilling an entrepreneurial mindset, boosting entrepreneurial skills, optimizing talents, aligning students’ passion with profitable ventures, and upscaling innovation, research, and technological ideas to drive national transformation and development.
