UNN Hosts 2024 Nobel Economics Laureate, Professor James Robinson, Ahead of Chinua Achebe Memorial Lecture

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), Prof. Simon Uchenna Ortuanya, has received Professor James A. Robinson, co-winner of the 2024 Nobel Prize in Economics, and a delegation of eminent international researchers at the University.

The distinguished scholars are in UNN to participate in the 7th Chinua Achebe Annual Memorial Lecture organised by the University’s Institute of African Studies.

Prof. Robinson, who is internationally recognised for his contributions to economics and political science, is among the distinguished Visiting Professors appointed by the Vice-Chancellor as part of efforts to strengthen global academic partnerships, attract world-class scholars, and position the University of Nigeria as a leading centre for teaching, research, and innovation in Africa.

The Vice-Chancellor stated that the University remains committed to bringing renowned scholars from around the world to engage with students and researchers while contributing to knowledge advancement.

The visit further highlights UNN’s growing international collaborations and its commitment to creating opportunities for academic exchange, research development, and global knowledge sharing.
