Onuh Favour Enyo-Ojo, a graduate of Plant Science and Biotechnology, has made history at Achievers University, emerging as the best graduating student of the Class of 2026 with a perfect Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 5.00 out of 5.00.
Her remarkable achievement was recognised at the university’s 16th Convocation Ceremony, where her academic excellence also attracted the attention of industry leaders. Several industry representatives who attended the event have expressed interest in her, raising prospects for potential employment and placement opportunities.
Delivering her valedictory speech, Favour disclosed that she began her academic journey at Achievers University with the goal of graduating with a First-Class degree. However, she adopted a more ambitious approach to her studies, preparing beyond the minimum requirements for academic excellence.
“I prepared for examinations with the mindset of scoring 90, rather than merely aiming for the 70 required to earn an A,” she recalled.
Following an impressive first semester, Favour said she was confronted with warnings that maintaining her CGPA would become increasingly difficult as she progressed through her programme.
Rather than accept those predictions, she challenged the assumption that her academic performance would inevitably decline.
“Why does it have to drop? Why should I accept someone else’s prediction as the limit of my ability?” she asked.
That determination became a defining moment in her academic journey, prompting her to set a target of achieving a perfect 5.00 CGPA throughout her studies. She ultimately accomplished the feat, establishing a remarkable milestone in the university’s academic records.
Favour acknowledged that maintaining such an exceptional academic record came with considerable pressure and exhaustion. She, however, credited her family, friends and the Chapel of Grace and Glory’s Bible Study Unit for providing the encouragement, support and sense of purpose that helped her remain focused.

“We may have to walk our own paths, but we do not have to walk them alone,” she said.
Addressing her fellow graduates, she urged them to approach the future with courage, determination and adaptability. She encouraged them to strive beyond the bare minimum, remain committed to their goals and resist allowing other people’s doubts to limit their ambitions.
Her achievement represents a significant milestone for Achievers University and highlights the importance of discipline, consistent preparation and self-belief in academic success.
Beyond her academic distinction, the interest shown by industry leaders at the convocation underscores the potential for stronger connections between universities and employers, particularly in creating opportunities for outstanding graduates.
Favour’s accomplishment also serves as an inspiration to students, especially those pursuing science-related disciplines, demonstrating that ambitious goals, diligent preparation and perseverance can produce exceptional results.
The achievement has drawn attention to student excellence, the advancement of science education in Nigeria, university-industry collaboration, women’s leadership and the broader contribution of higher education to sustainable development.
