Female TSU Student Survives Suspected Suicide Attempt After Medical Emergency In Jalingo

A female student of Taraba State University, TSU, Jalingo, has survived a suspected suicide attempt after allegedly ingesting a harmful substance.

The incident occurred in Jalingo and initially sparked concern among students and members of the university community amid conflicting reports about the student’s condition.

University authorities have confirmed that the student ingested a harmful substance in an apparent attempt to take her own life. 

According to the school authority, the student was promptly rushed to the university clinic after the incident, where she received medical attention. The university further confirmed that the student responded to treatment and has since been stabilised.

The development has brought relief to students and friends who had earlier feared the worst following reports circulating about the incident.

The university community is being urged to treat issues involving students’ emotional and mental well-being with seriousness and compassion, while avoiding the spread of unverified information, photographs or videos.

Students experiencing emotional distress or thoughts of self-harm are encouraged to seek immediate support from trusted persons, university authorities, counsellors or medical professionals.
