Abudu Precious Oladipupo Reportedly Missing While Travelling for NYSC

Abudu Precious Oladipupo a recent university graduate is reportedly missing after a suspected kidnap attack on a bus carrying NYSC-bound passengers in Imo State.

Concern has mounted over the reported disappearance of a recent university graduate, Abudu Precious Oladipupo, who was said to have been travelling from Ibadan, Oyo State, to Akwa Ibom State for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation programme when the vehicle he was travelling in was allegedly attacked by suspected kidnappers.

Oladipupo, a recent graduate of Linguistics and African Languages, reportedly departed Samonda, Bodija, Ibadan, on September 30, 2026, after enrolling for the 2026 Batch C Stream I NYSC mobilisation exercise.

According to information circulating about the incident, the bus conveying Oladipupo was allegedly ambushed along the Owerri–Onitsha axis in Imo State. The report further claimed that two other buses said to have departed from the same motor park were also attacked.

The circumstances surrounding the reported incident remain unclear, including the exact location of the alleged attack, the number of passengers affected and the current whereabouts of those reportedly taken away.

An unverified account circulating online claimed that about four persons escaped from the attackers. The same account said security personnel had commenced efforts to locate the affected passengers.

However, The Nigeria Education News could not independently verify these details as of the time of publication, and no official statement from the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigerian Army, the NYSC or the relevant state authorities confirming Oladipupo’s reported abduction was immediately available.

The development has nevertheless generated concern because Oladipupo was reportedly travelling to commence his mandatory national service after completing his university education. The NYSC programme annually mobilises thousands of Nigerian graduates to different parts of the country, requiring many of them to undertake long-distance journeys before reaching their assigned orientation camps.

The reported incident also underscores the security concerns that can confront young graduates travelling across state boundaries for national service, particularly where journeys involve routes that have previously experienced criminal activity.

For families and friends of Oladipupo, the immediate priority is confirmation of his whereabouts and the safety of all passengers reportedly affected by the incident. Any information from security agencies or NYSC officials would therefore be important in establishing what occurred and guiding the response.

Members of the public have been urged to share only verified information about the case and avoid publishing unconfirmed claims that could cause additional distress to the families involved or interfere with ongoing security operations.

Anyone with credible information concerning Oladipupo’s whereabouts is encouraged to report it to the appropriate security authorities or NYSC officials rather than relying solely on social-media circulation.

As efforts to establish the facts continue, the case has renewed attention on the safety of Nigerian graduates travelling to orientation camps and the responsibility of relevant authorities to strengthen protection and emergency-response mechanisms along routes used by NYSC-bound corps members.
