Newly matriculated postgraduate students of Ajayi Crowther University (ACU), Oyo, have been urged to uphold discipline, integrity and service as hallmarks of their academic journey.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Ebunoluwa Oduwole, gave the charge during her matriculation welcome address to the newly admitted postgraduate students on Wednesday, August 12, 2026.

The postgraduate students comprise individuals admitted into diverse academic and professional programmes.

Speaking on the conduct and outlook expected of the matriculating students, Professor Oduwole warned that their conduct, dressing and character would reflect on the reputation of the institution.

“Your conduct, dressing, and character will reflect on the reputation of this institution,” she said, urging the students to serve as good ambassadors of Ajayi Crowther University both within and outside Nigeria.

The Vice-Chancellor reaffirmed the University’s zero-tolerance stance on examination malpractice, cultism and other social vices, charging the students to abide strictly by all University rules and regulations.

She also encouraged the students to develop a mindset of giving back by identifying areas of need and actively participating in activities that promote the growth and development of the University community.

Beyond personal academic achievements, Professor Oduwole emphasised the critical role postgraduate students have to play in national development through research.

She called on them to undertake problem-focused and solution-oriented research capable of minimising or eliminating challenges confronting society while contributing to productivity and sustainable development.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Dean of the Postgraduate School, Professor Paul Akanbi, assured the students that they had made the right choice by choosing Ajayi Crowther University.

Professor Akanbi pledged that the University’s qualified and competent lecturers were committed to providing quality education and equipping the students with the knowledge and skills required to compete favourably with their counterparts around the world.

The matriculation ceremony marked a significant milestone in the students’ pursuit of greater achievements in their academic, professional and personal lives.
