Adamawa Council Approves N2.59bn Gulak College Project, ASIEC Furnishing

The Adamawa State Government has approved the award of contract for the construction of an administrative block at the College of Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Studies, Gulak, at the cost of N2,592,735,171.38.

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Leader Leneke, disclosed this while briefing Government House correspondents shortly after the 17th Executive Council meeting chaired by the Deputy Governor, Kaletapwa George Farauta, at the Council Chamber, Government House, Yola.

The council also approved the award of contract for the procurement of office furniture for the newly constructed Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission, ASIEC, headquarters.

Shedding more light on the approved memos, the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Garba Umar Pella, explained that following the upgrade of Mega Science Secondary School, Gulak, to College of Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Studies, there is need for additional offices for effective day-to-day management of the institution.

Pella said the upgrade comes with its own requirements, including an administrative block to house the Rector and management staff, noting that the institution has already taken off with temporary arrangements.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Abdullahi Prambe, said the new ASIEC edifice recently handed over to the state government by the contractor upon completion will be equipped with office furniture as approved by the council.

During the meeting, the Executive Council urged residents to remain alert to flooding as rains have become more frequent in recent times in order to safeguard lives and property.
