Ajayi Crowther University Library Receives Book Donations from Academics, Students and Public Figure

The T.Y. Danjuma Library of Ajayi Crowther University (ACU), Oyo, has received several book donations from academics, students and other individuals, further boosting its collection of academic resources across different disciplines.

The donation drive began with 18 titles comprising 104 copies of law textbooks covering various aspects of legal education and legal practice. The books were donated by Rt. Hon. Asimiyu Alarape, a public figure and registered LL.B. student of the university's Faculty of Law.

Speaking on the donation, Alarape disclosed that he had previously donated a few book titles to the library in April. He explained that receiving an acknowledgement and appreciation letter from the university encouraged him to make another donation, this time involving more titles and copies.

The University Librarian, Professor Bosede Ajiboye, received the donation on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor. She was accompanied by the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Professor Olanrewaju Onadeko, alongside other professors, academic and non-teaching staff members of the faculty.

Similarly, the Programme Coordinator of the Department of Estate Management, Dr Oluwagbemiga Adewolu, led some students of the department in donating additional academic materials to the library.

The donation comprised 20 different book titles in 43 volumes and seven journal titles with 12 copies. The publications cover the period between 2014 and 2024.

The donation comes ahead of the programme's re-accreditation exercise. The books, which include works authored by indigenous scholars, also address an important requirement of the National Universities Commission (NUC) concerning locally authored publications in print.

Another contribution came from Dr Peter Oiku, who donated four copies of his recently published book, titled "From Idea to Impact: A Journey Through Entrepreneurship," to the library.

The donations are expected to strengthen the library's holdings, improve access to relevant academic materials and support teaching, learning and research across the university.
