BUK SSANU Thrash SUG 4–0 Victory in a Thrilling Friendly Match

The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), BUK Branch, delivered a masterclass in football as they ruthlessly dismantled the Students’ Union Government (SUG) team with a resounding 4–0 victory in a thrilling friendly match held on Saturday, 2nd August, 2025, at the Old Campus FIFA Pitch.

From the blast of the whistle, SSANU asserted dominance, and it didn’t take long for their brilliance to shine. In the 10th minute, Sulaiman Garba lit up the pitch with a spectacular acrobatic strike from 25 yards out, leaving the goalkeeper rooted to the spot and sending the crowd into wild cheers.

Barely ten minutes later, SSANU doubled their lead. After Ubali Fagge, AKA Walo was skillfully brought down inside the 18-yard box, referee Mr. Damo wasted no time in pointing to the spot. Rabiu Mohammed Sagir coolly stepped up, sending the students’ goalkeeper the wrong way with an ice-cold penalty finish to make it 2–0.

The second half saw SUG attempt to regroup with a series of tactical substitutions, but SSANU’s experience and composure proved too much. Midway through the half, Rabiu Sagir produced a moment of magic with a perfectly weighted, defense-splitting pass to Abdulrashid of University Library, who calmly slotted home the third goal, throwing the staff bench and supporters into celebration.

With just five minutes left on the clock, SSANU put the game beyond doubt in breathtaking fashion. From a well-placed free-kick, Nura Garba, SSANU’s Secretary, delivered a delightful chip into the box, and there was Sulaiman Garba again, rising majestically to bury his second goal of the day and seal a sensational 4–0 triumph.
