Bayero University, Kano (BUK) is a top-tier federal university in Nigeria, located in Kano State. With 18 faculties and over 100 academic programs, it stands out as one of the fastest-growing universities in Nigeria, both academically and in infrastructure.

BUK is among the eight universities awarded "Distinction" by the National Universities Commission (NUC). It holds the third position in the number of accredited courses as of 2019, and since 2007, has maintained one of the highest numbers of accredited programs in the country.

BUK is the only university in Northern Nigeria offering a Doctor of Optometry degree. It is one of only four universities in Nigeria offering Mechatronics Engineering. Its Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology offers specialized programs like Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, and Computer Science.

BUK's Faculty of Law is the largest in Nigeria, and the second largest in West Africa, featuring the biggest Moot Court in the country. It also houses the largest Centre for Dryland Agriculture in Nigeria.

BUK is affiliated with Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH), the first hospital in Nigeria to perform a successful kidney transplant. AKTH remains a leader with the highest number of successful kidney transplants in the country, making it one of the most outstanding teaching hospitals in Nigeria. The university is also highly rated in NUC’s MBBS accreditation rankings.
