IBBUL Gets NUC Approval for 13 New Academic Programmes

The Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai, has secured approval from the National Universities Commission, NUC, to commence 13 new full-time undergraduate and postgraduate programmes from the 2026/2027 academic session.

The new programmes are http://B.Sc. Community Health, http://B.N.Sc. Nursing, http://B.Sc. Industrial Chemistry, http://B.Sc. Intelligence and Security Studies, http://B.Sc. Library and Information Sciences, http://B.Sc. Medical Laboratory Science, http://B.Sc. Applied Geophysics, http://B.Sc. Physics with Electronics, http://B.Sc. Cyber Security, B.A. Nupe, http://B.Sc. Botany, http://B.Sc. Zoology and http://M.Sc. and Ph.D. Food Science and Technology.

The approval was contained in a letter from the NUC dated September 11, 2026, signed by the Director of Academic Planning, Abubakar M. Gerei, on behalf of the Executive Secretary, Professor Abdullahi Yusuf Ribadu, and addressed to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mohammed Hadi Sulaiman.

The Commission congratulated the University and enjoined it to provide adequate human and material resources for the development and growth of the approved programmes.

The programmes are aimed at expanding the University's academic offerings in emerging and specialised fields.

Reacting to the development, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mohammed Hadi Sulaiman, described the approval as a very important step in expanding access to university education and strengthening the University's capacity to respond to the needs of a rapidly changing world.

He congratulated the entire University community and expressed gratitude to the Visitor, Governor Mohammed Umar Bago, for his continued support to the institution, describing the journey so far as very encouraging.

Professor Sulaiman also appreciated the support from the Commissioners and staff of the Ministries of Tertiary Education, Finance, as well as Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.

He reaffirmed the University's commitment to providing the requisite human and material resources to ensure successful implementation of the programmes in line with NUC standards, and urged prospective applicants to have faith in the University for a smooth admission process.
