NIS Borno Comptroller Visits UNIMAID, Seeks Stronger Institutional Collaboration

The newly appointed Comptroller of the Nigerian Immigration Service, NIS, Borno State Command, CIS U.K. Ahmed, on Wednesday paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Maiduguri, UNIMAID, Professor Mohammed Laminu Mele.

The visit was aimed at strengthening collaborative ties between the two institutions.

Speaking during the visit, CIS Ahmed said the engagement was to formally introduce himself to the University management. He disclosed that he was appointed as the 33rd substantive Comptroller of the Command on April 23, 2026, and expressed commitment to building on the existing cordial relationship.

I am here to build on the existing cordial relationship and make it even stronger, he said.

He thanked the University leadership for the warm reception and noted that the visit provided an opportunity to strengthen operational relations and brief the management on ongoing reforms within the Immigration Service.

In his response, Professor Mele congratulated CIS Ahmed on his appointment and welcomed him to the UNIMAID campus. He reaffirmed the institution's commitment to sustaining its excellent relationship with the NIS and called for increased practical engagement.

The Vice-Chancellor urged the NIS Borno Command to consider organizing sensitization programmes for UNIMAID staff and students to create greater awareness on core services, procedures and civic responsibilities of the Immigration Service.

He said the University's doors are open for robust collaborations in areas such as capacity building, professional training and other strategic programmes of mutual interest.
