Comr. Eghen-Aselue Chuks Emerges SSANU Chairman at UNIDEL Bye Elections
Comrade Eghen-Aselue Chuks has been elected Chairman of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), University of Delta (UNIDEL) branch, following a closely contested bye-election.
Comrade Eghen-Aselue Chuks has been elected Chairman of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), University of Delta (UNIDEL) branch, following a closely contested bye-election.
Announcing the results, Comrade Azumah Cheta Ugochukwu, National Vice Chairman and Chairman of SSANU South-South Zone, declared Eghen-Aselue winner with 169 votes, narrowly defeating Umukoro Oghenekaro, who polled 162 votes.
In other positions, Godwin Osabu emerged as Vice Chairman with 244 votes, surpassing Innocent Udoh, who scored 88 votes. Comrade Ejovi Ufuoma was elected Secretary with 254 votes against Fidelis Obuh's 75 votes. Festus Ossai and Chiadika Henry were returned unopposed as Public Relations Officer and Trustee, respectively.
In an interview, Comrade Eghen-Aselue expressed gratitude to SSANU members for their support and pledged to prioritize their welfare while fostering unity within the union.
Earlier, Comrade Azumah paid a courtesy visit to UNIDEL management, commending the harmonious relationship between SSANU and the institution. Vice Chancellor Prof. Stella Chiemeke, in response, emphasized the university's commitment to free and fair elections and assured continued cooperation with SSANU.
