"Form a Formidable Alumni Branch for ACU Development," VC Charges Ibadan-Based Graduates

The Vice-Chancellor, Ajayi Crowther University (ACU), Oyo, Prof. Ebunoluwa Oduwole, in a historic gathering on Saturday, 13th June, 2026 met with graduates of the university residing in Ibadan metropolis, calling on them to forge a formidable alumni branch that would spearhead the institution’s growth and development.

Addressing the enthusiastic alumni at the well-attended gathering, Prof. Oduwole urged them to be structured, take their rightful place, and market the university through their virtues, words, actions, and daily activities.

She emphasised that building a strong alumni network is central to her vision for the university.“Ajayi Crowther University is your university. Whatever is happening in ACU, you have a stake; you can contribute to the direction of affairs,” she declared.

The Vice-Chancellor further tasked the alumni, once organised, to visit the campus, engage with students, and serve as mentors to the younger generation. She commended the ACU chapter alumni, led by Dr. Peter Oiku, for their contributions to the university’s health centre and for organising a successful alumni lecture featuring Jumoke Odetola weeks earlier.

“We are moving, and we want you to get into it. Everybody has to come on board,” Prof. Oduwole said, calling for fresh ideas to take the university to the next level.Other principal officers present, including the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Afolake Olanbiwonninu; Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Olukayode Binuyo; the Registrar, Dr. Bode Olofinmuagun; and the Bursar, Dr. Ayodele Olusanwo echoed the Vice-Chancellor’s sentiments.

They noted that the alumni have a complementary role in ensuring the university’s growth and charged the gathering to officially form an Ibadan branch.“Whatever you have achieved shows that ACU has invested in you,” they said, describing the meeting as remarkable and urging tangible action on the discussions held.Several alumni that responded thanked Prof. Oduwole for identifying with them.

They agreed that ACU needs a holistic transformation and better organisation of its alumni body. The graduates praised the Vice-Chancellor and her team for the positive stories emerging from their alma mater under her leadership.“We are pleased to hear good stories coming out of Ajayi Crowther University,” they said.
