FUBK Faculty of Education Dean, Professor Umar Tuni Mohammed, Passes Away Following Illness

The management of the Federal University Birnin Kebbi (FUBK) has announced with deep sorrow the passing of Professor Umar Tuni (UT) Mohammed Dakingari, the sitting Dean of the Faculty of Education.

Professor Mohammed passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2026, following a prolonged and courageous battle with an illness.A Legacy of Academic Excellence and LeadershipProfessor UT Mohammed was widely recognized within the Nigerian tertiary education sector as a distinguished scholar and an administrator par excellence.

Throughout his tenure at FUBK, he championed structural developments within the Faculty of Education and mentored generations of undergraduate and postgraduate students.University management described his untimely demise as an monumental, irreparable loss not only to the immediate FUBK community but also to sister academic institutions across the country where he regularly collaborated and consulted.

Funeral and Burial ArrangementsIn line with Islamic rites, the Janazah (funeral) prayer for the repose of his soul was scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at the Sheikh Damana Mosque in Birnin Kebbi at 4:30 PM.

The university community, faculty members, students, and external academic associations have united in grief, offering prayers that Almighty Allah (SWT) in His infinite mercy forgives the shortcomings of the deceased, accepts his good deeds, and grants him a place in Aljannatul Firdaus (the highest paradise).
