The Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo (FUHSO) has officially taken possession of a newly acquired property, formerly ABGLO Hotel and Suites, located in the G.R.A., Otukpo.

The acquisition marks a key milestone in the University’s ongoing infrastructural expansion under Vice-Chancellor Prof. Francis Aba Uba.

The formal handover ceremony took place on Thursday, 15th January 2026, with Prof. Uba expressing gratitude to the previous owners for contributing to the University’s growth. Represented by the Acting Vice-Chancellor and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Cecilia Ojabo, the Vice-Chancellor emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability in finalizing the transaction.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Prof. Friday Okibe, confirmed that full payment had been effected, ensuring that the property officially becomes University-owned upon the signing of the necessary documents. Dr. Paul Hassan Akpa, the University Bursar, noted that the management inherited the final stage of the transaction, which was fully compliant with the agreed Bill of Quantities.

The ceremony was attended by principal officers of the University and representatives of ABGLO Hotel and Suites, along with key officials including the Directors of Procurement, Works and Maintenance, Internal Audit, Advancement, Security, and SERVICOM, as well as faculty and administrative representatives.

The acquisition is expected to enhance the University’s capacity, providing additional space to support FUHSO’s growing student and staff population and further development of its permanent site.
