FULafia VC Charges Medical Laboratory Science Inductees to Uphold Ethical Integrity
The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Prof. Shehu Abdul Rahman, has cautioned newly inducted graduates of medical laboratory science course against unethical practices and compromising of professional ethics.
He gave the warning at the 2nd Induction and Oath-Taking Ceremony of the Department of Medical Laboratory Science, held at the MIS Multipurpose Hall, Permanent Site Campus.
Abdul Rahman stressed that excellence in the profession required strict adherence to national and international regulations, noting that the laboratory coat symbolises trust, discipline and responsibility.
Represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic Affairs, Designate), Prof. Ilemona Adofu, he described medical laboratory scientists as vital to healthcare delivery urging the inductees to uphold integrity, confidentiality, competence and continuous learning.
Earlier, the dean of the faculty, Prof. Sirajudeen Junaid, commended the University's Management for securing accreditation from the National Universities Commission and the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria.
The Acting Registrar of MLSCN, Dr Donald Ofili, represented by Dr Akinlabi Akinwale, inducted the graduates, telling them to treat every laboratory sample as a human life.
Awards were presented to outstanding graduates at the end of the event.
