The International Media and Information Literacy Institute (IMILI), Nigeria, has marked the 2026 Global Media and Information Literacy (MIL) Week with a strong charge to young people to embrace critical thinking, verify information before sharing, and promote responsible engagement on digital platforms.

The event, which held on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) headquarters in Jabi, Abuja, was themed “We All Play a Part.”

It drew students from PEM International Academy, Lugbe, Abuja, who took part in interactive discussions and practical sessions focusing on media literacy, digital safety, artificial intelligence (AI), and responsible online behaviour.

Speaking at the occasion, the Director of IMILI, Dr. Sharon Omotosho, expressed appreciation to the students for their active participation and urged them to leverage the insights gained to become ambassadors of responsible media use in their schools and communities.

Dr. Omotosho noted that in an age of information overload and emerging technologies, equipping young people with media and information literacy skills is essential to countering misinformation and fostering ethical digital citizenship.
