FULafia VC Urges Journalists to Verify Reports Before Publication

The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Prof. Mohammed Isa Kida, has urged journalists to verify information before publication, particularly reports capable of compromising the safety and security of students and staff.

Prof. Kida made the call during an interactive meeting with media practitioners from within and outside Nasarawa State at the Old Senate Chamber of the University's Permanent Site Campus.

The Vice-Chancellor said the media has an important role to play in promoting the University's activities, enhancing public understanding and supporting efforts to address security challenges confronting the institution.

He urged journalists to uphold responsible and accurate reporting, especially in their coverage of insecurity, banditry and kidnapping.

He warned that publishing unverified or sensitive information could expose members of the University community to danger.

The meeting provided an opportunity for journalists to engage the University's Management, seek clarification on issues concerning the institution and explore areas of collaboration.

Representatives of many media organisations attended the meeting.
