FUNAAB Staff Unity Games Ends as DICTS Emerges Overall Winner, Claims Three Gold Medals
The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has concluded the 2026 Staff Unity Games, with the Directorate of Information and Communication Technology Services (DICTS) emerging as the overall winner after securing three gold, two silver and two bronze medals.

The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has concluded the 2026 Staff Unity Games, with the Directorate of Information and Communication Technology Services (DICTS) emerging as the overall winner after securing three gold, two silver and two bronze medals.
The colourful closing ceremony provided an opportunity for members of staff to interact, compete in various sporting and recreational activities, and strengthen bonds of friendship and unity across the University Community. It also reinforced the call for peace, unity and peaceful coexistence among members of the University.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, commended the Directorate of Sports and Wellness Centre for creating an avenue for staff members to come together in the spirit of peace and unity.
Prof. Kehinde noted that peaceful coexistence requires collective efforts, continuous advocacy and a strong commitment to harmonious working relationships.
He acknowledged the contributions of staff, students, sponsors and other stakeholders to the success of the Games.
As part of the recognition of outstanding performances, the Vice-Chancellor announced cash awards for the top three teams.
The overall winner received ₦100,000, while the second and third positions received ₦70,000 and ₦50,000, respectively.
In his remarks, the Director, Directorate of Sports and Wellness Centre, Dr. Samuel Olabanji, appreciated the University Management for its support and for providing staff and students with opportunities to participate in activities that promote peace, unity and healthy interaction.
Dr. Olabanji described the Games as a platform for fostering peace, unity and peaceful coexistence within the University Community.
He stressed the need to embrace unity in diversity and promote an inclusive environment where members can work together irrespective of their differences.

In the final football event, the Directorate of Works and Services defeated the Registry Team 2–0 to win the football gold medal and trophy.
A major highlight of the closing ceremony was the novelty match between the University Management and the FUNAAB Falcon Babes, alongside the presentation of medals and prizes to the winners.
