FUNAAB Trains 20 RTEAN Members in Peace and Conflict Resolution

The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Ogun State, has trained 20 members of the Road Transport Employees Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), Ogun State Chapter, in peace and conflict resolution to promote peaceful engagement and effective conflict management within the transport sector.

The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Ogun State, has trained 20 members of the Road Transport Employees Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), Ogun State Chapter, in peace and conflict resolution to promote peaceful engagement and effective conflict management within the transport sector.

The training, organised through the university’s Institute of Communication and General Studies (ICGNS), culminated in the certification of all 20 participants. Five representatives received their certificates at a presentation ceremony held at FUNAAB on October 7, 2026.

Presenting the certificates, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Babatunde Kehinde, congratulated the participants on completing the programme and urged them to apply the knowledge acquired in their association and communities.

Kehinde explained that the initiative aligned with FUNAAB’s mandate of teaching, research and community engagement, particularly through extension services. He added that such programmes strengthened relationships between the university and its host communities under the institution’s “Town and Gown” philosophy.

The Vice-Chancellor described RTEAN as a responsible association contributing to the development of Nigeria’s transport system and assured its members of the university’s willingness to sustain meaningful collaboration and partnerships with the association.

Presenting the participants to the Vice-Chancellor, the Programme Leader of Peace and Development Studies, Professor Temitope Olaifa, said the trainees had acquired the necessary skills and met the requirements for certification in peace and conflict resolution.

Olaifa explained that the five participants present at the ceremony represented the 20 trainees who successfully completed the programme.

Speaking on behalf of RTEAN, Dr. Fadipe Bamisaye thanked FUNAAB for making the training accessible and impactful for members of the association. He also commended the resource persons for their contributions to the programme’s success.

Bamisaye expressed the association’s willingness to strengthen its relationship with the university by exploring additional areas of collaboration to improve members’ capacity and effectiveness.

The five representatives who received certificates on behalf of the 20 participants were:

Also present at the ceremony were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Professor Olusegun Idowu, and the Director of ICGNS, Professor Remi Aduradola, among other university officials.

The initiative highlights FUNAAB’s efforts to extend its training and community engagement programmes beyond the university by equipping transport sector stakeholders with skills to manage disputes and promote peaceful coexistence.
