FUTES-Iyin Launches Staff Cooperative Society, Holds Maiden Congress
The Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences, FUTES-Iyin, has launched its Staff Cooperative Multipurpose Society with a call on members of staff to embrace the initiative as a platform for collective financial empowerment, disciplined savings and improved welfare.
The Registrar, Mr. Oluwole Dada, represented at the maiden congress by Mr. Dare Aladeloba, encouraged staff to subscribe to the cooperative and take advantage of the opportunities it offers.
Aladeloba underscored the importance of collective financial initiatives in strengthening staff welfare, urging members to actively participate in the activities of the society and support its growth.
The Bursar, Mrs. Rachael Ajayi, charged members to approach the cooperative with trust, honesty and commitment to its rules and regulations.
Drawing from her experience as a former chairman of a cooperative society, she stressed that integrity, transparency and accountability remain essential to the sustainability of any cooperative society.
Ajayi encouraged members to cultivate a consistent savings culture, noting that the essence of a cooperative goes beyond accessing loans to building a sustainable financial system capable of improving members’ well-being.

Also speaking, the University Librarian, Prof. Isaac Busayo, commended the establishment of the cooperative, describing it as a worthwhile initiative that could contribute meaningfully to the financial well-being of staff.
Earlier in his welcome address, the President of the Cooperative Society, Mr. Kehinde Adebayo, said the society was established primarily to serve staff interests and provide a platform for collective financial advancement.
He thanked the university management under the pioneer Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Gbenga Aribisala, for approving its establishment and assured members that the leadership is committed to transparency, accountability and responsible management.
He listed access to loans, savings and collective financial empowerment among the major objectives of the society.
The congress featured presentations on operational guidelines, including contribution requirements and loan eligibility, as well as an interactive question-and-answer session where members sought clarifications on the society’s operations.
