FUTMINNA Bursary Department Hosts In-House Training, Reaffirms Collaboration with Audit Unit

The Bursary Department of the Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMINNA), has held a one-day In-House Training Programme as part of activities marking its 2025 End-of-Year General Meeting. The event, held on Friday, December 12, 2025, at the Academic Publishing Centre, featured several paper presentations aimed at enhancing staff competence and service delivery.

In her remarks, the Bursar, Dr. (Mrs.) Hadiza Goje, described the gathering as an important platform for accountants and auditors to exchange ideas and strengthen collaboration in fulfilling their statutory roles. She emphasised the need for synergy between the Bursary and Audit Unit, noting that harmonious working relationships promote productivity, efficiency, and overall institutional growth.

Dr. Goje also stressed the importance of continuous staff development and urged participants to apply the knowledge acquired for the advancement of the University’s goals. She commended the resource persons and appreciated the organizers for a successful event.

Speaking on internal audit operations, the Deputy Director of Audit, Mall. Aminu Ashafa, reiterated the role of audit as a key internal control mechanism that ensures due process in procurement, proper expenditure audits, project classification, asset verification, and periodic internal control reviews. He stated that such measures provide management with the information needed to address institutional weaknesses.

Other presentations were delivered by Mrs. Inyene Udoekanem on the Responsibilities of the Expenditure Control Unit; Mr. Edward Stephen Sunday on the Roles of the Loans and Advances Unit; Mrs. Idayat Bojuwon on the Activities of the Stores Unit; and Mr. Mu’azu Alhaji Suleiman on the use of Admon Software in transforming financial administration within the Bursary Department.
