FUTMinna VC Emphasizes Research Importance at NRF Proposal Writing Workshop
The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta, has highlighted the significance of research in the university system. He described research as the most critical pillar of higher education, surpassing teaching and community service in importance.
Prof. Kuta emphasized that research is the key driver of development globally. He noted that while developed countries thrive on a knowledge-based economy, Nigeria continues to rely on imports, stressing the need to build capacity for transforming raw materials into finished products through research and innovation.
The Vice-Chancellor stressed the need for rigorous training in writing compelling proposals to secure competitive grants. He urged participants to take advantage of the workshop and mentor younger colleagues in grant writing.
FUT Minna has secured the highest number of NRF grant awards in the latest TETFund results, with a total of 15 grants. This achievement demonstrates the university's commitment to research excellence.
The workshop covered various topics, including crafting a compelling title, literature review, budget preparation, and research methodology. Participants were encouraged to apply the knowledge gained and foster collaboration in developing research proposals.
