Governor Yusuf Appoints BUK Director Lamara Garba Member of Kano Anti-Drug Task Force Committee

The Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has appointed the Director of Public Affairs, Bayero University, Kano, BUK, Lamara Garba, as a member of the Kano State Special Inter-Agency Task Force Against Drug Abuse and Trafficking.

The appointment underscores the confidence reposed in Lamara Garba's professional competence and wealth of experience in public communication and stakeholder engagement.

The Special Inter-Agency Task Force was constituted by the Kano State Government to coordinate efforts aimed at combating drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking across the state.

The committee is expected to strengthen collaboration among government agencies, security organisations, health institutions and community stakeholders in tackling the growing challenge of substance abuse.

Among its key responsibilities are developing strategies for the prevention and control of drug abuse, coordinating public awareness and advocacy campaigns, enhancing inter-agency intelligence sharing, recommending policies to curb drug trafficking, and advising the state government on measures to protect vulnerable groups, particularly young people, from the dangers of substance abuse.

Lamara Garba, a seasoned public relations practitioner, is expected to leverage his expertise in strategic communication and public enlightenment to support the committee's mandate of promoting a drug-free and safer Kano State.
