The Chief External Examination(CEE) of Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board - JAMB in Akwa Ibom State for 2026, Professor Leo Daniel on Friday, 30th January 2026 met with some critical stakeholders and partners of JAMB in Akwa Ibom State to assess, review and concretize preparations ahead of the forthcoming Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in the State. 

In his opening remarks at the first physical strategic meeting held at the JAMB State office, No. 12 Akpakpan Street, Off Wellington Bassey Way, Uyo, the Chief External Examiner in Akwa Ibom State who doubles as the Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Technology Ikot Abasi (FUTIA) while hosting the meeting said it was not only timely but comes as part of his mandates and initiative as the JAMB Chief External Examiner in the State to oversee the conduct of the 2026 Mock Examination and Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination(UTME) in Akwa Ibom State.

Prof. Daniel used the occasion to express appreciation to the JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Olanrewaju Oloyede, CON, FNAL, NPOM and the entire Board for finding him worthy to serve as the Chief External Examiner of JAMB in Akwa Ibom State for year 2026. He pledged to collaborate with critical stakeholders in the State to conduct a hitch-free Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination in the State.

The JAMB Chief External Examiner equally commended the JAMB State Coordinator, Mrs Grace Olima-William, the entire staff of the office, Peace Monitor of JAMB in Akwa Ibom State, Prof. Comfort Ekpo, the Chief Technical Advisor, Prof. Uyi Ekong, the Technical Adviser to the Chief External Examiner and FUTIA Acting Director of ICT, Dr Abasiama Akpan, the representatives of Security Agencies as well as Proprietors, Proprietress and Administrative Officers of UTME Accredited Computer Based Tests Centres in Akwa Ibom State for their cooperation during the virtual meetings, preliminary assessment of critical ICT infrastructures and the just concluded Centre Accreditation exercise in the State ahead of the Mock Test scheduled for 28th March 2026 nation-wide.

The Chief External Examiner commended the Akwa Ibom State Government for ensuring peace in the State and harps on continuous support towards the successful conduct of the forthcoming Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination in the State. He called on other interested and qualified candidates to take advantage of the ongoing nation wide UTME Registration before the deadline. The JAMB CEE tasked all the JAMB Candidates who have successfully registered or currently registering for the UTME to prepare effectively for the forthcoming examination pledging the Board’s commitment to make it successful across the State. He tasks all the stakeholders to gear up ahead of the examination.

The meeting held at the Akwa Ibom State JAMB office, No. 12, Akpakpan Street, Off Wellington Bassey Way, Uyo equally had in attendance the JAMB State Coordinator, Mrs Grace Olima-William, the JAMB State Peace Monitor and former Vice Chancellor, University of Uyo, Professor Comfort Ekpo, the Technical Adviser to the JAMB CEE and Acting Director of FUTIA ICT, Dr Abasiama Akpan, the State Public Relation Officers of JAMB; Mrs Dorathy Udoh and Mr Uwem Nkang, the Admission Officer of FUTIA, Edidiong Ukpong, the Information and Public Relations Officer of Federal University of Technology Ikot Abasi (FUTIA), Peter Saturday Peter, representatives of different security Agencies in the State among others.

Later in her vote of thanks, the Akwa Ibom State JAMB Coordinator, Mrs Grace Olima-William congratulated the JAMB Chief External Examiner, Professor Leo Daniel on his appointment pledging the commitment of the entire staff of the office to work with him and other stakeholders. She expressed appreciation to all the stakeholders in attendance at the meeting.

Arising and resolving from the successful physical meeting, the JAMB Chief External Examiner led some of the Stakeholders in attendance to pay unscheduled visit to some UTME Accredited Computer Based Tests Centres in Akwa Ibom State to ascertain their compliance with the ongoing JAMB/UTME Candidates’ registration protocols including issuance of UTME Registration Template, Cashless sales of E-Pin in their premises, unconditional registration charges, CCTV Real-time activities while registering candidates to enable the JAMB headquarters to monitor real time activities at every UTME Accredited CBT Centres in the Country as well as adherence to age bracket of candidates among others.

Some of the UTME Accredited CBT Centres visited by the JAMB Chief External Examiner along with other stakeholders in different Examination Towns in Akwa Ibom State includes: Kemegold Nigeria Limited (stationed in Onna People’s High School, Abat, Onna LGA), Divine Seeds Printing CBT Centre (Stationed at No. 20, Ediam Street, Eket LGA), Edet Amana ICT Foundation Hub (stationed at Edet Amana Crescent, Oron LGA), Her Excellency, Pastor Mrs Patience Umo Eno ICT Centre (stationed at Ikot Edibon, Nsit Ubium Council Headquarters), Ebenezer ICT Centre, (stationed at No. 14 Ebenezer Avenue, Off Clement Isong Ring Road, Uyo LGA), UNIUYO PTDF E-Resource Centre (stationed in UNIUYO Town Campus, Ikpa Road, Uyo), Heritage Digi-Link International Ltd Centre, (Stationed at No. 178, Heritage House, Ikot Ekpene Road, Uyo LGA), Rolins King Infotech and Management Technology (stationed at No. 15, Library Avenue, Ikot Ekpene LGA).

Recall that the JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Olanrewaju Oloyede, CON, FNAL, NPOM, had in a letter signed by him and dated 11th December, 2025, appointed the Pioneer Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Technology Ikot Abasi (FUTIA) and first Professor of Aeronautics and Astronautics in Nigeria, Professor Leo Daniel as the JAMB Chief External Examiner in Akwa Ibom State for year 2026 in recognition of his sound academic background, pedigree and integrity in the country and beyond.

The appointment letter earlier issued to Prof. Daniel further reads in parts; “As a Chief External Examiner, you are to, amongst other duties and responsibilities: provide overall leadership to all examination officials in the State; ensure a hitch free conduct of the examination in the State; monitor the examination and visit centres personally at random; receive summary of reports from all centres daily; respond to challenges that are brought to your attention especially those that require critical decisions; represent the Board in the State during the period of the examination; liaise on behalf of the Board, with the State Government or any Agency or government functionaries on any matter that will facilitate the smooth conduct of the examination; appoint three proctors per centre from your institution and other tertiary institutions in the State - who must be computer literate with required academic background, responsible and be punctual at all times at their centres in order to add value to the conduct of the examination among other initiatives."

The JAMB Chief External Examiner holds a life-time record as the Nigerian scholar that designed the Benchmark Minimum Academic Standards (BMAS) for Aerospace Engineering Programmes in Nigeria on the request of the Nigeria’s National Universities Commission(NUC) earlier adopted for Tertiary Institutions education curriculum in Nigeria.
