Kano State Polytechnic Strengthens Quality Assurance at SORTED Rano

The Quality Assurance Committee of Kano State Polytechnic on Tuesday, September 23, 2026, undertook an official quality assurance visit to the School of Rural Technology and Entrepreneurship Development, Rano, as part of efforts to strengthen academic standards, quality service delivery and institutional effectiveness.

The committee, led by its Chairman, Dr. Ibrahim Usman Aikawa, said the visit was aimed at guiding, supporting and promoting continuous improvement, rather than witch-hunting or fault-finding. The exercise is part of management’s commitment to ensuring that academic standards, due process and best practices are consistently maintained across all schools of the polytechnic.

During the visit, the committee assessed key areas including staff and students’ attendance and punctuality, lecture delivery, availability and use of course outlines and practical manuals, the state of workshops and laboratories, classrooms, farms and entrepreneurship centres, as well as maintenance of academic and students’ records.

The committee also stressed the importance of compliance with NBTE guidelines, the polytechnic’s academic calendar, entrepreneurship training requirements and other relevant academic standards.

The Chairman conveyed the commitment of the Rector, Dr. Abubakar Umar Farouk, to the continued development of the Rano campus, noting that quality training in rural technology and entrepreneurship is essential to equipping students with practical skills for employment creation and sustainable socio-economic development in Kano State and beyond.

He called on the Director, Heads of Departments and all staff of the school to work closely with management and the committee in identifying challenges, addressing gaps and sustaining areas of excellence.
