KWASU Researchers Secure $43,913 TWAS-UNESCO, ₦83m NRF Grants

Four research teams from Kwara State University (KWASU) have won competitive grants from the TWAS-UNESCO and the National Research Fund (NRF), underscoring the university’s growing profile in research and innovation.  

At the international level, a team led by Dr. Bolatito Eunice Olanipekun as Principal Investigator was awarded a $43,913 research grant by TWAS-UNESCO.

Nationally, three KWASU teams emerged successful under the 2025 NRF grant scheme. The team led by Dr. Abdulwaheed Musa received ₦37,590,000, Dr. Kehinde Peter Alabi’s team secured *₦25,000,000*, while Dr. Khafayat Yetunde Olatinwo’s team was awarded ₦20,435,900.  

Presenting the award letters to the beneficiaries, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, congratulated the recipients on the milestone. He described their success as a reflection of the university’s commitment to supporting impactful research and innovation.

Professor Jimoh also charged the awardees to mentor early-career researchers, emphasizing the need to build a sustainable research culture that will continue to attract competitive grants and enhance the institution’s global visibility.  

The grants bring KWASU’s total external research funding from the two schemes to over $43,913 and ₦83,025,900, further positioning the university as a hub for research excellence in Nigeria.
