KWASU Students' Union Holds 2026 Leadership and Parliamentary Summit
The Students' Union of Kwara State University (KWASU) on Thursday, June 18, 2026, held its 2026 Leadership and Parliamentary Summit, bringing together student leaders and stakeholders to discuss effective leadership and governance.
A highlight of the event was the recognition of Otunba Kehinde Lateef Olusegun, a distinguished philanthropist and businessman, for his contributions to society and youth development.
Representing the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Moshood Mahmood Jimba, commended the students for maintaining peace on campus and for their commitment to the university's rules and regulations.
In his remarks, the Students' Union President, Abdusamad Raji, said the summit, themed "Leadership and Responsibility: A Catalyst for Effective Representation and Sustainable Governance," was designed to nurture a generation of responsible leaders who understand that leadership is a call to service.

The President of the Students' Union Senate, Ahmed Afolabi, also praised Otunba Kehinde Lateef Olusegun for his contributions to entrepreneurship, educational technology, and community development.
Delivering the keynote lecture, Dr. Oluwatomi Adeoti emphasized that the quality of leadership often determines the quality of followership, stressing the need for responsibility, accountability, and integrity among leaders.
The summit also featured the distribution of empowerment tools through an open and transparent balloting process. Beneficiaries received tailoring kits, catering equipment, hairdressing tools, barbing equipment, and shoemaking materials.
The programme was jointly organized by the Students' Union Executive Council and the Students' Union Senate as part of efforts to promote leadership development and student empowerment at KWASU.
