LASCOHET Provost Urges New Students to "Embrace Right Attitude" at Orientation Programme
The Provost of Lagos State College of Health Technology (LASCOHET), Professor Raheem Olasupo Akewushola, has called on newly admitted students to “re-jingle their mindsets” and fully embrace the right attitude required for academic excellence and professional development.
He made this charge during the orientation programme for fresh students admitted into the College for the 2025/2026 Academic Session.
Professor Akewushola encouraged the students to believe in themselves, adopt positive thinking, and align their actions with the values and standards expected of future healthcare professionals. He reiterated the Institution’s zero tolerance for misconduct, warning that any breach of the College’s Code of Conduct would attract disciplinary measures.
According to him, the essence of the orientation programme is to provide students with a clear understanding of the College’s rules, expectations, and culture so they can start their journey on the right footing.
The Provost further urged the students to cultivate hard work from the onset, avoid immoral behaviours that could lead to failure, and ensure timely payment of fees, course registration, punctuality, and regular attendance at lectures and practical sessions.
“You are capable of greatness. Believe in yourselves and in the system. Remain focused, and God will crown your efforts with success”, he added.
Also addressing the students, the Senior Special Assistant to the Lagos State Governor on Students Affairs, Tertiary Education, Honourable Samuel Olawale Kappo, cautioned students against involvement in drug abuse, examination malpractice, and other acts of indiscipline capable of jeopardising their future.
He encouraged them to uphold discipline as a guiding principle, stressing that the reputation and safety of the College require the joint responsibility of both students and management. He urged them to promptly report any suspicious activity or misconduct to the appropriate authorities.
The Provost, De-Potter College of Health Technology, Ogun State, Dr Oluwaseyi Gabriel Adeware, advised the students to appreciate the rare opportunity of securing admission into LASCOHET, describing it as a significant step toward becoming competent and distinguished healthcare practitioners.
