LAWSAN-UDUS Pays Study Visit to WIPO Nigeria Office in Abuja to Boost IP Engagement
The Law Students’ Association of Nigeria, Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto (LAWSAN-UDUS), conducted a study visit to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Nigeria Office at the United Nations House in Abuja on Tuesday, December 9, 2025.
The primary goal of the visit was to strengthen collaboration between the student body and WIPO, deepening students' involvement in intellectual property (IP) development.
The delegation, led by LAWSAN-UDUS President Ibrahim Shafi’u Adam, was warmly received by Dr. Oluwatobi Moody, who praised the association as a strategic partner in Nigeria’s IP future and emphasized the critical role of youth participation in the field.
Discussions focused on potential academic partnerships, opportunities for UDUS students in national and global intellectual property discourse—including possible participation in the WIPO General Assembly in Geneva—and WIPO's commitment to supporting the forthcoming UDUS Intellectual Property Summit. Dr. Moody assured the students that WIPO would provide essential learning materials and resources to support IP education at the university's Faculty of Law.
LAWSAN-UDUS President Ibrahim Shafi’u Adam described the engagement as "outstanding and inspiring," noting that it highlighted immense opportunities for young innovators and creators within the IP sphere.
