Lens University Claims 2nd Runner-Up Spot at NLA Inter-School Competition
The 200-level Library and Information Science students of Lens University Ilemona have emerged as the 2nd runner-up of the Nigerian Library Association (NLA) Kwara State Chapter inter-school competition in Ilorin, Kwara State Capital.
The second edition of the competition held at the National Library of Nigeria, Ilorin, featured Kwara State University, Malete; Lens University Ilemona; Lens Polytechnic Offa; Federal Polytechnic Offa; and Kwara State Polytechnic Ilorin.
The keenly contested competition covered key areas of librarianship, including reference services, organisation of knowledge, research methodology, legal issues and intellectual properties.

While announcing the results, the Chairman, NLA Kwara State Chapter, Dr. Bello Abdullateef congratulated all the institutions for participating in the competition. He commended the dedication and commitment of the students and encouraged them to continue to strive for greater heights in knowledge and scholarship.
Also speaking, the Financial Secretary of the Association, Mr. Mahmoud S. Olaitan on behalf of the association, appreciated the Proprietor of Lens Institutions, Dr. Azeez Yisa FCA, for his consistent support for the association.
In his reaction, the proprietor applauded the students for representing the university in the competition and taking the second runner-up position.
According to him, "On behalf of the management, I commend the students for making the university proud. It is their first time, and they took third position. We consider this a great feat because it shows the level of our competence and quality education we give to our students at Lens Institutions."
On his part, the institution's librarian, Mr. Ahmad Sheriff Banuso, appreciated the management for the full support and for encouraging the department to do better. He applauded the students for being good ambassadors of the institutions.
In his note of appreciation, the Head of Department of Library and Information and Public Relations Officer of NLA, Kwara Chapter, Mr. Dere Abiodun thanked the Proprietor, the Rector, and the leadership of the department. He commended the students' conduct, diligence, and sense of responsibility.
“ Through your performance, and engagement, you have demonstrated the quality training and academic values upheld by the institutions. You have represented the department and the institution with distinction, and your efforts are worthy of recognition," he stated.
