LINSA-UDUS, ASUU President Charge Students at Public Speaking Training Session

On Saturday, 16th of August 2025, the Linguistics Students’ Association (LINSA),Department of Linguistics, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto(UDUS), in collaboration with Edun's creative solution, organised a day intensive masterclass on public speaking skills.
The training which took place at Usmanu Danfodiyo language laboratory, at exactly 11:30 am, had 60 participants in attendance for the session.
Dr Isah Muhammad Galadima, a lecturer from the Department of Linguistics, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, delivered his speech as keynote speaker on the process, channel, media, and barrier in communication, which he classified into three: psychological noise, physical noise and linguistic noise.
He further stated that public speaking is a universal means of oral communication that can be in forms of; impromptu, extemporaneous, memorize and manuscript.
While the training was ongoing, the president of Academic staff union of universities (ASUU), Professor Chris Piwuna joined the session, and addressed the participants.
“Academic staff union of universities (ASUU) doesn't want students that can hardly speak up for themselves, and they don't want students that can't challenge their leaders,” he said
As a leader of ASUU, Professor Chris Piwuna encouraged the participants to join the union when they finish their school.
The president of Linguistics Students' Association(LINSA), expressed his delight at the presence of ASUU president, Professor Chris Piwuna, and appreciated his priceless words to the students.
