NANS President Commends LASU VC for Exemplary Students’ Welfare Initiatives

The President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Olushola Oladoja, on Monday, October 6, 2025, led members of the National Executive Council and the Joint Campus Council (JCC) on a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU), Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM.

The visit, which also had in attendance the LASU Students’ Union President-Elect, Comrade Ayodele Korede Peter, was part of the NANS President’s ongoing nationwide Campus Tour aimed at strengthening engagement with student communities across tertiary institutions.

During the meeting, Comrade Oladoja commended Professor Olatunji-Bello for the remarkable transformation witnessed across LASU’s campuses, especially her unwavering commitment to student welfare. He praised the Vice-Chancellor’s “maternal and visionary leadership,” noting the ongoing renovation of students’ hostels as a major milestone.

He also encouraged the university to further improve the Students’ Union Arcade to enhance social interaction and student engagement on campus.

The NANS President used the opportunity to applaud President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for establishing the National Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), describing it as a commendable initiative that will make higher education more accessible to Nigerian students.

In her response, Professor Olatunji-Bello warmly welcomed the NANS delegation and congratulated Comrade Oladoja on his emergence as national president. She commended his proactive leadership style and expressed delight that the South-West phase of the NANS Campus Tour began at LASU.

The Vice-Chancellor reaffirmed her administration’s strong commitment to student welfare, academic excellence, and continuous dialogue with student leaders. She also assured the delegation that all suggestions presented would be given due consideration by the university management.

The courtesy visit was attended by senior university officials, including the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Adenike Boyo; Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Professor Oseni Taiwo Afisi; and other principal officers of the institution.
