NAUB Hosts Kwaya Kusar JSS Pupils on Educational Field Trip to Inspire Higher Learning
The Nigerian Army University Biu, NAUB, on Monday, June 30, 2026, hosted Junior Secondary School, JSS, pupils from Kwaya Kusar for an educational field trip aimed at exposing them to university life and inspiring higher education aspirations.
The delegation was received at the Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences Conference Hall by NAUB’s Deputy Vice-Chancellors, on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor.
The Education Secretary, ES, of Kwaya Kusar and leader of the delegation, Dr. Salihu Alhaji Ibrahim, expressed gratitude for the warm reception and sought a strategic partnership with NAUB to advance regional educational development.

“The essence of this trip is to expose these pupils to a university environment and inspire them to pursue higher education,” Dr. Ibrahim said. He added, “Education does not end at the primary or secondary level. You are the future leaders. Remain dedicated to your studies and work hard to achieve your dreams.”
In his opening remarks, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Prof. Abubakar Alkasim, encouraged the pupils to study hard, stressing the lifelong value and transformative opportunities that higher education provides.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Prof. Audu Ayuba Balami, spoke on career guidance. He urged the students to make informed career choices early and pursue them with determination. “There are many different career paths, and you must decide where you want to see yourselves in the future,” he said, while also cautioning them against social vices and to maintain focus on their academics.
Representing the Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, the Head of Department, Political Science, Dr. O. Christopher Sunday, emphasized character as the foundation of higher education. “True education is built on character, responsibility, integrity, accountability, respect, and trust. Degrees are awarded based on both learning and character. As future leaders, you must be trustworthy and men of integrity,” he stated.
Following the briefing, the pupils were taken on a guided tour of the faculty library, Biology and Physics laboratories, and the Directorate of Information and Communication Technology, ICT. The tour was facilitated by Dr. Essien Benjamin, HOD, Biology; Dr. Sarkin Aska; and Mr. Japhet Pukuma.
