NSUK and Bingham University Graduates Inducted into Professional Counseling
Graduates from the Guidance and Counseling Departments of Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), and Bingham University, Karu, were formally inducted into the Association of Professional Counselors in Nigeria (APROCON) on Wednesday, 3rd September, 2025. The ceremony was held at the Faculty of Education, NSUK.
Representing the Vice-Chancellor, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research, Innovation, and Linkages), Associate Professor K’tso Nghargbu, while welcoming the inductees, emphasized the crucial role of guidance and counseling in addressing contemporary societal challenges. He congratulated the graduates on completing their programmes and urged them not to "fail Nigeria" in their professional service.
Dr. Tunde Oke, Head of Department, Guidance and Counseling at NSUK, spoke on behalf of the National President of APROCON. He congratulated the inductees and encouraged them to uphold the highest ethical and professional standards in their practice.
In her keynote address, Dr. (Mrs.) Ivy Momoh of Bingham University highlighted the importance of professional counseling in shaping the moral and psychological well-being of the nation’s youths. She called on the new 9counselors to be proactive in using their skills to address issues such as trauma, peacebuilding, and conflict resolution. Similarly, Professor Kashim Gbanja, Chairman of the Nasarawa State Chapter of APROCON, emphasized that the graduates' training would equip them to serve humanity and contribute meaningfully to national growth.
Dr. (Mrs.) Iya Haruna Ayuba, Secretary of APROCON and a staff member at NSUK, encouraged the graduates to be innovative and make a lasting impact in their communities.
The ceremony concluded with the presentation of certificates to the new professional counselors.
