According to him, the exercise is part of the Commission's quality assurance responsibility, adding that all programmes leading to the award of Bachelor's degrees under a university must meet NUC's prescribed standards.

He disclosed that the team would inspect facilities including library resources, laboratories, ICT infrastructure and classrooms, as well as assess academic staff, verify curricula and evaluate the institution's preparedness to host the programmes.

In her welcome address, the Rector of Federal Polytechnic Oko, Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie, represented by the Deputy Rector (Administration), Venerable Dr. Fergurson Ezeokafor, appreciated the Commission for its commitment to quality education.

The affiliation drive is part of Federal Polytechnic Oko's strategy to expand access to tertiary education by providing opportunities for students to earn Bachelor's degrees within the institution.

It will be recalled that discussions for the affiliation commenced in February 2026 under the leadership of Dr. Awuzie, and culminated in the signing of an MoU in June 2026 for 10 degree programmes.

The ongoing verification marks a major step towards ensuring compliance with national standards for quality, infrastructure, staffing and academic delivery.
