The Ogun State Institute of Technology (OGITECH), Igbesa, has been selected to host the central accreditation and final zonal grouping for the 2027 Nigeria Polytechnic Games Association (NIPOGA) competition.

The development was confirmed in a programme schedule released to polytechnics and colleges of technology across Nigeria on Thursday, August 20, 2026, as part of preparations for the forthcoming games.

The selection marks a significant milestone in OGITECH’s 20-year history, as the institution will host the NIPOGA central accreditation exercise for the first time. It will also be the first time that the event will be held in Ogun State.

The development further highlights the progress recorded by the Polytechnic under the leadership of its Rector, Dr Abiodun Oluseye, who will mark three years in office on Friday, August 28, 2026.

Since assuming office, Dr Oluseye’s administration has recorded notable developments in areas including infrastructure and staff advancement, contributing to the growing profile of OGITECH within Nigeria’s higher education sector.

NIPOGA is a biennial sporting competition for students of polytechnics and colleges of technology in Nigeria. The games are designed to promote peaceful coexistence, encourage healthy competition and identify sporting talents for national development.

Events featured at the games include football, athletics, chess, basketball and combat sports, among others.

The NIPOGA Central Accreditation and Final Zonal Grouping will be held at the OGITECH campus in Igbesa from Wednesday, December 8 to Friday, December 11, 2026. The exercise is expected to bring together programme executives and sports officials from participating institutions.

The main NIPOGA games are scheduled to hold from March 8 to March 22, 2027.
