Outgoing LASU VC Olatunji-Bello Congratulates Professor Badejo on Appointment as Successor

The outgoing Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU), Distinguished Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, has congratulated Professor Ayodeji Olawunmi Badejo on her appointment as the 10th Substantive Vice-Chancellor of the University.

Professor Badejo, a Professor of Counselling Psychology, was appointed LASU’s 10th Substantive and third female Vice-Chancellor on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, following a rigorous selection process.

In a congratulatory telephone conversation, the outgoing Vice-Chancellor described Professor Badejo as a worthy successor who is well positioned to lead Lagos State University into its next phase of growth and development.

Professor Olatunji-Bello expressed confidence that, given Professor Badejo’s impressive record of scholarship, extensive experience in university administration and international exposure, she would provide excellent leadership for the University.

She added that she was leaving LASU in capable hands.

The outgoing Vice-Chancellor also assured her successor of her full support in whatever capacity may be required, reaffirming her lifelong commitment to the continued success and advancement of the LASU project.

Professor Olatunji-Bello, a Professor of Physiology and the University’s second female Vice-Chancellor, is set to complete her single five-year tenure on Saturday, September 19, 2026, after an administration widely acknowledged for ushering in unprecedented development across all facets of the University.
