Prof. Kamal Babikir, Renowned for “End of the Road” Discipline, Appointed Dean of Arabic and Islamic Studies at UDUS

Professor Kamal Babikir has emerged as one of the most respected and influential academics at Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, UDUS, where he currently serves as Dean of the Faculty of Arabic and Islamic Studies.  

Renowned for his unwavering commitment to discipline, academic excellence, and integrity, Professor Babikir has earned a lasting reputation among generations of students and alumni across Northern Nigeria. In addition to his administrative role, he remains a distinguished scholar in the Department of Arabic.  

Beyond the classroom, Professor Babikir has made significant scholarly contributions. He authored the widely used "KAMUSUN LARABCI–HAUSA", an Arabic-to-Hausa dictionary published by the university, which has become an important resource for students and researchers.  

Among UDUS students  popularly known as Danfodites, Professor Babikir is famously nicknamed “End of the Road, E.O.R.”, a title that reflects his uncompromising stance on academic discipline.  

For many years, he served as Chairman of the Examination Monitoring Committee, where he became known for his zero-tolerance approach to examination malpractice. His commitment to fairness, honesty, and academic integrity made him one of the most respected and often most feared figures on campus.  

Although many students viewed him with apprehension during their university years, countless alumni now credit him for helping instill discipline, responsibility, and respect for academic ethics. His legacy extends far beyond enforcing examination rules; he is remembered as an educator who shaped both character and scholarship.
