Professor Oluwatosin Adaramoye Assumes Duty as Dean, UI Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences

Professor Oluwatosin Adekunle Adaramoye has assumed office as Dean, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, University of Ibadan, effective 1st August, 2026.

Professor Adaramoye is a Professor of Biochemistry in the University of Ibadan. He holds a Ph.D degree from the University of Ibadan, with areas of expertise in Molecular Drug Metabolism and Toxicology. He has over two decades of experience in research and teaching.

He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree, Second-Class Upper Division Honours, in Biochemistry from the University of Ilorin and a Master of Science degree in Biochemistry from the University of Ibadan.

Professor Adaramoye is an astute researcher who has worked extensively on the chemopreventive effects of medicinal plants, including flavonoids from Garcinia kola, Bitter kola seeds, Turmeric, and Artocarpus altilis, against chemically-induced pathologies in rodent models.

He is a recipient of several fellowships and grants including the Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Research grant for pre-doctoral training at UAE University, Al Ain, UAE; Federal Government of Nigeria Postgraduate Scholarship; TETFUND-IBR; INSA JRD-TATA Fellowship; TWAS/CNPq postdoctoral fellowship; TWAS-UNESCO Associateship Scheme; John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur grants; Short-term EMBO Fellowship; Sir Mobolaji Bank-Anthony Fellowship in Urology; Charite University of Medicine research support; DAAD scholarship; and TETFUND-NRF grant in 2025.

Professor Adaramoye has held several administrative positions within and outside the University of Ibadan. These include MBBS/BDS Programme Coordinator; http://B.Sc. Biochemistry Course Coordinator; Departmental Postgraduate Coordinator; Sub-Dean, Postgraduate, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences; Assistant Hall-Warden, Independence Hall; Provost, College of Postgraduate Studies, Bowen University, Iwo; and Head of the Department of Biochemistry, University of Ibadan.

He has also served as Visiting Professor to Cape Peninsula University of Technology, South Africa; University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa; and Federal University of Paraiba, Brazil. He has further served as Assessor and External Examiner to several universities in Nigeria.
