Professor Tomola Obamuyi Appointed New Vice-Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University

Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has approved the appointment of Professor Tomola Marshal Obamuyi as the substantive Vice-Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA).

Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has approved the appointment of Professor Tomola Marshal Obamuyi as the substantive Vice-Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA).

The appointment followed the recommendation of the University's Governing Council after Professor Obamuyi emerged as the top-ranked candidate among 15 contenders interviewed by the Joint Council and Senate Selection Board, in line with the provisions of the University's Act and other applicable regulations.

Professor Obamuyi, a professor of Banking and Finance, will succeed the outgoing Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olugbenga Ige.

Over the course of his academic career, Professor Obamuyi has held several leadership positions, including Head of the Department of Banking and Finance at AAUA and the first substantive Dean of the School of Management Technology at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA).

His academic contributions have earned both national and international recognition. In 2015, he received the Best Professor of Banking and Finance in Africa Award from the Africa Education Leadership Awards in Mauritius. He has also served as a member of National Universities Commission (NUC) programme accreditation teams and as Chairperson and Subject Expert of the Review Panel for Namibia's National Council for Higher Education.

Professor Obamuyi has presented research papers at conferences in Finland, the United Kingdom, Canada, Sweden, Ireland, Ghana, Zambia, Uganda, Ethiopia, India and the United States, reflecting his extensive international academic engagement.

Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed confidence that the new Vice-Chancellor's wealth of experience in teaching, research, administration and institutional development would consolidate the progress already made by AAUA and further strengthen the University's position as one of Nigeria's leading state-owned institutions.

The Governor urged Professor Obamuyi to uphold the University's core values while promoting peace, innovation and collaboration among staff, students and other stakeholders.

He also reaffirmed the Ondo State Government's commitment to providing the necessary support to enable AAUA continue advancing in teaching, research, innovation and community service.
