Redeemer’s University Clarifies Tuition Instalment Payment Regime, Debunks False Claims

The management of Redeemer’s University, Ede, Osun State, has clarified that the instalment payment schedule for tuition fees remains unchanged, dismissing rumours and a fabricated document suggesting otherwise, which falsely claimed that students risked being locked out of hostels for not paying full fees by specific dates.

The spurious document in circulation falsely stated: “Students who do not make full payment of their 2025/2026 Academic Session fees by Friday, 13th February, 2026 shall proceed on vacation and shall resume on Friday, 27th February, 2026.” Redeemer’s University has confirmed this is entirely untrue.

According to the University, the instalment payment policy continues as follows:

  • 40% at resumption of the first semester
  • 20% before first semester exams
  • 40% at resumption of the second semester

This regime, introduced over ten years ago to ease the financial burden on parents, has not changed. The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shadrach Olufemi Akindele, ffan, fffps, emphasized that this is a long-standing policy, not a new rule, and that fees paid by students are a critical part of the University’s revenue, used to sustain its operations in the absence of government funding.

Prof. Akindele also highlighted that the University accommodates individual requests for payment extensions and continues to provide various scholarships, grants, and support for deserving students. This includes awards for academic excellence, sports achievements, debate competitions, and assistance for children of RCCG members, workers, and ministers, as well as support for indigent students through philanthropic partnerships.

The University urges students, parents, and the public to disregard the circulating false information and assures all stakeholders of its commitment to transparency, fairness, and continued educational support.
