SLUK Matriculates 1,987 Students; VC Lauds Jigawa’s Free Education Policy and Federal NELFUND Initiative

The Vice-Chancellor, Sule Lamido University Kafin Hausa (SLUK), Professor Muhammad Ibrahim Yakasai, fcasson, mnae, has commended the efforts of the Jigawa State Government under the leadership of Malam (Dr.) Umar A. Namadi, FCA for upholding the free education policy of the state.

This commendation was made during the 11th Matriculation Ceremony of the newly admitted undergraduate students of the University for the 2025/2026 Academic Session on Tuesday 20th January, 2026. 

According to Yakasai, same commendation also goes to the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the Federal Government’s National Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) initiative, which is available to support students throughout their academic journey.

Professor Yakasai, further disclosed that a total of 6,630 candidates applied to the University in which only 2,145 were admitted from an admission quota of 2,322 out of which 1,987 were fully registered. Professor Yakasai then congratulated them for their induction as the lucky ones that are fully integrated as bona fide members of the SLUK Community. 

While restating the University’s commitment to delivering its mandate of producing graduates that are sound in both character and learning for them to be productive members of the society, the Vice-Chancellor charged them to strictly abide by the rules and regulations of the University and shun all social vices as good ambassadors of their communities.

The event was graced by all the Principal Officers of the University, the Senate Members and the Jigawa State Coordinator of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Dr. Adekunle Makinde.
