UNILAG Shines at PANS National Convention, Secures Multiple Awards and Leadership Roles

Delegates from the UNILAG branch of the Pharmaceutical Association of Nigerian Students (PANS) showcased outstanding talent and leadership at the recent PANS National Convention held at the University of Ilorin, Kwara State, from October 6 to 12, 2024.

Delegates from the University of Lagos (UNILAG) branch of the Pharmaceutical Association of Nigerian Students (PANS) showcased outstanding talent and leadership at the recent PANS National Convention held at the University of Ilorin, Kwara State, from October 6 to 12, 2024. This year’s convention, themed "PULSE '24," featured diverse events, including debates, sports, and social activities, where PANS UNILAG students distinguished themselves with significant achievements.

The UNILAG delegation claimed top honors, including the National Winner title in the 4th Annual PharmaNews Debate Competition, awarded to Echezona Momah and Abdulqudus Agbaraojo. They also secured the National Basketball Championship title, earned five medals in athletics, placed third in the dance competition, and received individual accolades for leadership and service. Agbede Nifesimi, PANS-UNILAG President, was honored with an Award of Service, while Green Esther, National Deputy Chief-in-Editor for Zone A, was also recognized for her contributions.

In a further demonstration of leadership, Echezona Momah was elected National Assistant Secretary General during the convention’s Annual General Meeting. Additionally, Rufai Gabriel, former Coordinator of ADMAP PANS-UNILAG and current NHS Chairman, was appointed National Chairperson for the Anti-Drug Misuse and Abuse Programme (ADMAP), while Green Esther took on the role of National Vice Chairperson (Political Advocacy and Stakeholders Engagement).

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS, congratulated the UNILAG delegation, commending their achievements and dedication, which have brought pride to the university. The success of PANS-UNILAG at this convention reflects the university’s commitment to excellence and student development.
